My new book, Echoes of Isolation: A Personal Journey Through the Pandemic is now available!!
This book serves as a journal, a running commentary, and a historical account all at once.
Let us all relive those glorious days of the lockdown.
Hello, dear reader who is interested in reading more about me. My name is Kenneth Lawton. I live in New Jersey with my wife of 28 years, and our 2 grown children.
Over the course of my career I have worked in a number of different industries that could broadly be described as, “I work with computers.” As such, I know how to do a bunch of different stuff, much of which comes down to coding. Whereas my primary job is that of a data analyst, for the rest of my work, it’s mostly web development and design work. With the amount of freelance work I do, I decided to make my company a legit LLC, thus my company is DPoisn LLC. All of the work I do, including this book, is under that umbrella.
At the risk of saying the totally glaringly obvious, I like to write. That is why I have so many different sites on which I write articles, many of which are referenced in this work. Any time I do a project, I tend to write about my experience with it. Also, I wrote all of the software used to do all that writing. That’s just how nerdy I am.
If you follow the links listed in this book, you will find many fun and interesting things that I’ve done over the years. I was a live musician for a while, I did some films to experiment with special FX, to name a couple of fun periods in life. Today, as of the moment I’m writing this, I’m an author.
Are you really surprised that I'm treating this subsite like a blog about this book? Well, you shouldn't be. This is my first book, after all. It was a book that I really didn't mean to write, but ended up writing. The whole process for it has been very interesting and exciting!
My proof copy for the Paperback version arrived today!
I'm not gonna lie. It was super cool to pick that thing up for the first time and say, "This is my BOOK!!" It looks like a text book! It's actually bigger than I expected. Evidently, I misjudged what 400 pages looks like in print.
The reason I got the proof was so I could page through it and find any mistakes that I made. I was hoping to find none. But, if you know anything about proofing your own work, or editing your own book, there are always mistakes. Always. So I'm not going to beat myself up over it.
If you are planning to purchase the book, here is a short list of things I've noticed so far:
That is what I've found so far. I will keep this page up to date with new issues as I find them.
